Where your readers come from

How to see the geographic location of people who view your newsletter's web page.

Daystage tracks the approximate location of readers who view the public web version of your newsletter, based on their IP address.

Accessing geo data

  1. In the dashboard, click Full stats on any sent newsletter.
  2. In the analytics panel, switch to the Geo tab.
  3. You see a breakdown of readers by country and city.

What this tells you

  • Most of your readers should be in your local area. This confirms the newsletter is reaching your community.
  • Readers from unexpected cities or countries may indicate someone shared the link publicly.
  • Very few geo entries usually means most readers are reading via email rather than opening the web version.

Email vs. web

Geo data is collected only for the public web version of the newsletter. Standard email open tracking does not include location.

Privacy

Location is derived from the reader's IP address at the time of their visit. It is approximate (city-level) and does not identify individual readers.
