Password-protect a newsletter

How to require a password before anyone can view the web version of your newsletter.

Password protection adds a gate to the public web page of your newsletter. Anyone who opens the link must enter a password before they can read it.

Note: Password protection applies to the web version only. Email recipients see the full newsletter in their inbox regardless of this setting.

When to use it

  • Staff meeting notes or internal school updates
  • Sensitive information intended for a specific group
  • Confidential announcements (budget discussions, HR matters)

How to enable it

  1. Open the newsletter in the editor.
  2. Click the Settings icon or menu in the top bar.
  3. Enable Password protection.
  4. Enter a password and click Save.

Sharing the password

Send the password separately from the newsletter link. Include it in the email body or share it through a different channel (a group text, a staff meeting, etc.).

How long access lasts

Once a reader enters the correct password, they can access the newsletter for 7 days without entering it again. After 7 days, they are prompted again.

Removing the password

Go back to newsletter settings and disable password protection. The page becomes publicly accessible immediately.
