✏️ Writing Newsletters

Understanding blocks

Every newsletter is made of blocks. Here is what each block type does and how to use them.

Daystage uses a block-based editor. Every piece of content in your newsletter is a block. You add, edit, and reorder blocks to build your newsletter.

Adding a block

The left sidebar in the editor shows all available block types. Click any block to add it to the end of your newsletter. You can also type / anywhere in the editor to open the quick-insert menu.

Block types

TextA paragraph of text. Use this for most of your written content.
HeadingA bold section title. Use headings to break long newsletters into scannable sections.
ListA bulleted list. Good for homework reminders, supply lists, or anything with multiple items.
EventA structured date block with event name, date, time, and location. Shows as a clean card in the email.
ImageA photo or graphic. Upload from your device or paste a URL.
VideoEmbed a YouTube video link. The email shows a thumbnail with a play button that opens the video in a browser.
PollA multiple-choice question. Recipients click to vote, and you see the results in your dashboard.
LinkA URL preview card showing the page title, description, and thumbnail.
ButtonA large call-to-action button with a custom label and URL.
DividerA thin horizontal line to separate sections visually.
SpacerAn invisible gap that adds vertical breathing room between blocks.

Reordering blocks

Drag any block up or down using the drag handle that appears when you hover over it. Blocks can be moved to any position in the newsletter.

Deleting a block

Hover over any block to reveal the delete button. Click it to remove the block. This action is immediate and cannot be undone via keyboard shortcut, so take care with content you want to keep.
