How far in advance should I send a school event newsletter?
Send the first announcement three to four weeks out. Send a reminder one week before. Send a final reminder the day before if attendance matters. Three touchpoints is the minimum for any event that requires families to arrange childcare or transportation.
What should a school event newsletter include?
Date, time, location, what students are doing, what parents should do (bring, wear, prepare), and a direct link to RSVP if attendance is limited. Keep it to 150 words or fewer. Longer event emails get skimmed and the date and time get missed.
How do I get more parents to come to school events?
Three things move attendance: personal invitation from the teacher rather than a school-wide blast, a clear purpose such as "come watch your child present their science project" rather than "community night," and childcare or food. If you can only do one, provide childcare.
