Learning Today 10/2/26

Rafi finishing up his rainforest painting
  • Olaya holding a butterfly that just hatched. It was sad to see that this butterfly couldn't fly because his wing didn't unfold correctly. We took him outside to enjoy the nectar from flowers.
  • Rafi and Paxton playing a game of Othello with rules they had created. Olaya enjoyed watching it. They called it avalanche because one move could trigger an avalanche of resulting moves. It took a long time for each avalanche to be finished and they made up a song to sing while that was happening. Let me know if you want to see that video!
  • Storytime was chosen from stories that addressed their curiosities. Lollia was curious about what makes atoms and we found a story about that!
  • Kingston copied pages and pages of words from the books called "A Little Spot of ____________" (Love, Kindness, Patience, etc.). He also was able to stay with us while we had a morning circle showing our portraits and so the learners were able to see his portrait and hear more about him and some things about his summer.
  • Lollia drawing a picture with a Minecraft zombie. The boys were impressed!
  • Olaya and Rafi were curious about dinosaurs and watched a video about dinosaurs and the asteroid that hit the earth and what that would have been like for life on earth.
  • Lollia and Waverly painting with watercolor
Today the learners decided the theme for Fridays! We are now calling it Creativity and Curiosity Fridays. In the afternoons, our project times will be filled with creativity and learning more about what we are curious about. Here are Paxton, Olaya, and Rafi that were curious about shiny pokemon.
