Native American Heritage Month

Ms. Ackerman

Dear Families,

November is Native American Heritage Month. This week our class has been learning about the Native nations connected to our region, using books and resources written by Native authors and historians.

Learning from Native voices

We're using this month to learn accurate history about the Native nations who have lived on this land, using books, maps, and resources created by Native authors and historians rather than stereotypes or costumes.

Students are mapping the Native nations connected to our region and researching one nation's history and present-day community.
  1. Research the Native nation connected to our region
  2. Read a book by a Native author
  3. Present one fact to the class
