February is Black History Month, and our class has been building a classroom timeline of Black history and culture. Here's what we've covered so far and how you can keep learning together at home.
Building our classroom timeline
Each week we've added new names, events, and achievements to our timeline, from history to science to the arts. Ask your student to walk you through what's on the wall so far.
Our timeline now stretches across the whole back wall of the classroom, and every student has contributed at least one entry.
- Civil rights history
- Black scientists and inventors
- Music, art, and literature
- Local Black history in our own community
